Valentine’s Day first date, fails, more Friday The 13th

The OrphanageSaturday night, I ended a Valentine’s Day first date by watching The Orphanage. Before I get to the date, the movie was pretty damn creepy. I’m thinking that it’s pretty much just a weird and extremely macabre take on Peter Pan, kind of like the way that Tin Man was a take on Wizard Of Oz, except with a creep factor of about 9. There’s something about disturbing children that creeps me out pretty much more than anything else. I recommend checking it out though…especially if you have a cute, yet jumpy, girl to cuddle up on the couch with.

So yes, I went on a first date on Valentine’s Day. It’s really only weird if you let it be. We didn’t and I think we both had a great time. We went to MoMA in NYC and I saw this fail, which I have submitted to the appropriate fail documentation authorities…

128792347669556291Overall, I think the date went pretty well. We ended up spending all day together, but that’s really all that is important for the sake of this blog.

I’ve been thinking more about the Friday The 13th remake and I think I actually liked it a lot more than my initial reaction. It kind of fits in with where the series had been going. Sure, it’s a remake of the first few movies, but the style and tone of the movie fit in pretty well with Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason. And it’s not like they screwed up a story or anything about the original. The series never really had much of that. They plateimg_0053got the simple premise of Jason correct and beyond that, the series is really just about killing people and that happened quite a bit. And with a nice amount of gore, I might add. I also really liked the fact that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie that had characters that I wanted to die more than this. So that counts for something too. I’d like to revise my original rating up to a B.

Also, on the way out of the theater, I saw this license plate…
