6 miles

I was pumped for my run tonight, maybe it was because of the warmer weather, I don’t know. I made sure not to start out too fast, but I felt like I was keeping a decent pace still. When I finished, I was expecting to look at RunKeeper and see around a 7:45 min/mile pace, that’s about what I felt like I was doing based on my effort level and overall feel of the run. I was surprised to see a pace just a bit over 8 min/mile. I’m not too disappointed, I have plenty of time to get myself back down to a pace closer to 7 min/mile. And I shouldn’t be surprised either, I spent all of December and January running at a bit of a slower pace.

Doctors vs The Universe

The last time I posted about t-shirts, I mentioned that I had a second Doctor Who related shirt on the way, this one comes by way of TeeRaiders, but it’s not an exclusive design. I’ve been seeing this shirt show up around the internet on a number of different sites, but I’ve held back until now. I just couldn’t take it anymore, it’s too awesome. Not only does it combine one of my favorite movies, Scott Pilgrim v. The World, with one of my favorite TV shows, but it also features Martha Jones, who happens to be one of my favorite companions. She doesn’t get nearly enough love.

The second shirt comes from RIPT Apparel and is called “Doctorama.” This shirt isn’t specifically a Doctor Who shirt, but it does feature four of the doctors along with a mess of other famous pop culture doctors. It’s pretty great and the best part is that they are all presented as Futurama-styled heads-in-a-jar. The only thing I don’t like about the shirt is Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory. I could do without him.


Photo 365 – Week 4

This week was pretty fun for my project. I feel like I learned a bit about myself and was surprised a lot. I ended up with multiple picks this week that I didn’t expect to turn out to be my best photo from the day. I tried some new stuff and it worked out and I ended up with a couple photos unlike any others I’ve ever taken. Though, that’s not to say that every day was easy. I struggled to produce a photo at all for day 25 and I feel like day 27′s photo could have been composed and shot better.

Today’s run was great. It was windy out so I did a different route than normal, but I kind of liked it. I ankles felt okay, not perfect, but good enough.

Went for a four mile run with the wife. We started off with a nice pace and kept it most of the time, it ended up being the faster four miles she’s ever run. My ankle hurt a bit the whole time though, which sucked.

I think my legs remembered how this works, they wanted to go tonight. I took a trip to the gym because of the cold rain, but the treadmill was no deterrent, my legs wanted to run and they were going to do just that.

I started off nice and easy at an 8:06 min/mile pace for the first two miles and then picked it up for the second two. I took it down to 7:03 min/mile and felt great. And the best part was that none of last night’s ankle pain showed up.

Today’s run was pretty much a disaster. I didn’t want to do too much, just four miles, but I got sucked into going out to happy hour after work. A beer, a dozen wings, and an order of chips with chili and cheese later, I finally went home and got dressed to run at almost 8pm. None of that stuff sat well in my stomach, not that one would expect it to. I felt like I was holding back throwing up half the time. My stomach was crampy and bloaty feeling. Not fun. On top of that, my ankle hurt for most of the run. All around today’s run sucked.

I guess the only plus to all of that is that it made it easy to keep a nice and slow pace like I should be doing right now. I actually ran a lot slower than I planned/wanted to, but I just wasn’t feeling any portion of tonight’s run.

4 miles (treadmill)

First run since the Goofy Challenge two weeks ago. I did four miles on the treadmill since things were rainy, foggy, dark, and snow-covered outside. Didn’t seem too safe. I was planning on just doing two to very slowly ease back into things so I can try to avoid my tendinitis bothering me. I don’t want to spend the next five months training in pain. Two miles just seemed too pointless though.

Disney 2012

For the third January in a row, my wife and I paid a visit to Mickey and friends down at Walt Disney World. This year, we went down specifically to run the Goofy Challenge, but I already wrote about that. While our trip was shorter than in past years, I still managed to take a lot of photos. With this being our third trip, I already had a ton of photos of the parks so I knew I could skip a lot and just focus on things I either haven’t photographed or that I knew I could photograph differently.

Week three had some ups and downs for me. On some days, I had a few great photos to choose from, but there were a couple days where I struggled to find a good photo. This week, I also put my phone to good use, four of the seven photos were taken with it.
