About

I’m Andy Gapin, software developer by career, too many other things by lifestyle. I try to keep myself as busy as possible and my sanity has been known to show it. Over the years, this blog has become kind of a catchall for many of my interests. I try to post about as much as I can.

For nine years, I hosted a weekly radio show on 90.3 The Core. Seven of those years were dedicated to a show called The Playlist, a show entirely for new music from the indie-underground scene. The Core dominated much of my college life, but even years after graduating from Rutgers, I continued to find time to keep up with the show. These days, I don’t keep a steady show anymore, but I can be found on the airwaves every now and again when another DJ needs a sub.

I’m also a big runner, snowboarder, and when I can ever find the time, mountain biker. While the first two are newer hobbies for me that I’ve gotten into in the last few years, I love them both. I don’t post much about the snowboarding, but I plan to post about running as much as possible. I try to run organized races as much as I can, with a few 5ks and a half marathon under my belt already. While I often have a love/hate relationship with running, my relationship with snowboarding is all love…to the point where the only thing I can think about all Summer is how much longer there is until snow will be on the ground again.

My newest hobby is photography. I’ve always been one to take a ton of pictures, but it wasn’t until more recently that I realized I was more into photography than just snapping hundreds of pictures with a point-and-shoot. So I got myself a DSLR and I’ve been going nuts. I may not be the most talented, but I have a lot of fun with it and I’m learning more each week and getting better and better.

But above all else, I’m still a pretty big nerd. I enjoy hanging out at home tinkering around with my computers and I’m rarely found without my iPhone in hand. I love my MacBook Pro, but I’m no Apple fanboy, I enjoy a nice Linux or Windows computer as well.

I wish I could say that was an exhaustive list of my hobbies and interests, but it’s nowhere close. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to keep up with everything that I’d like to. What I do try to do, though, is keep my blog active with whatever I can.

While the main blog includes everything except my running log, I’ve created links in the menu to easily get to the various different things I post about. The photography menu includes a page for my Flickr photostream, all my photography related posts, and a page of just my photo galleries.

If you’re an RSS person, go ahead and add the blog.

Thanks for reading all this and I hope you enjoy!
